I am a series reader and try to stear clear of stand alone books unless they are recommeneded. And this book was highly recommended. And I will admit it was enjoyable but there was nothing that reached out to me. The originality to me was not there. Also there seemed to be a lot of holes in the story. Like how did the Greek Gods end up in England, when did they start to lose their powers, why did they have money for food and cleaner but not to fix up their home? I don't know if part of the reason I struggled with liking the characters is because of the previous books I've read where the gods were more dynamic, sexy, and comical. It almost felt like reading fan ficton that just didn't do it for me. It wasn't a bad book. If it was part of a series I would be interested to know where the author would go from here. But it's not and that made the difference in my rating.
