Mrs. Bridge and Mr. Bridge
by Evan S. Connell
I will be honest, I did not finish this audio book. I got to disk 3 out of 11. It was putting me to sleep and I only listen to audio books while I drive, and we couldn’t have that. It was no fault of the reader, I would listen to him again, it’s the story. It’s just not my cup of tea. It reminds me of Death of a Salesman. Its everyday life of a family in the 40’s or 50’s. It just drones on. It started to get interesting when the maid asked for an advance on her pay, but nothing was built on it. I will say, this is the only story I remember where a parent would rather their child win a pony than win a bicycle. I know lots of people who would enjoy this book and audio book. So while I thank Recorded Books for the copy, it will get a new home at a local public library.
