This was a beautiful middle-grade story that takes place in Pakistan and inspired by Malala. Amal loves school and reading and looks forward to her future until her parents can't pay back a debt and she is forced to go work for a landlord who holds her small town in terror. It's a modern-day story of what women go through throughout the world, and really gets its point across without being triggering or traumatic for the sake of it. I'm excited to give it to students so they can learn as well. Highly recommend!
