While I'm still frustrated with Celaena, the other characters in this series make it all worthwhile.

I loved following Dorian's evolution from broken Prince to future King, and his sweet and tender and healing relationship with Sorcha.

Chaol is still my favorite and Sarah J Maas does not spare him. He was broken at the end of book 2, but there are only small bits of him left scattered around at the end of book 3. But he's one of those characters you can do anything to, one of those characters who shines more in pain than in peace. I can't wait to find out what happens to him now that all those beliefs and loyalties have been shattered.

The three new characters also won me over very easily. It was so interesting to get into the head of a 'villain' through Manon, and see her question her heritage and upbringing through her relationship with her wivern.

Aedion is my new favorite. The horrors he's been through and his sharp personality appealed to me from the start. His double act is impeccable and his strength of mind unmatched.

It took me longer to get attached to Rowan, but that's because every interaction he had with Celaena annoyed me. The closer they got, the more my heart bled for Chaol. The more Rowan opened up, the more I got annoyed that every male around Celaena eventually falls under her charm and ends up dedicating their lives to her and frankly... WHY ??? Is she really worth it?

What I liked and disliked about this book is that each character moves forward, evolves and wins new battles over themselves... Each character, EXCEPT Celaena, who goes backwards, regresses, closes herself up. The very end of this book makes Celaena's internal journey necessary, we understand that she needed this backward step to make a leap forward, but it was long, annoying and boring to read.

Finally, Celaena is now Aelin, and I like this version of her better, but now that she's going back to Adarlan on her own, will she continue to evolve or will she revert back to the old Celaena that I can't stand? And will all these changes be worth putting up with her journey for the 17 hours of listening to the audiobook?

Si je suis toujours aussi frustrée par le personnage de Keleana, les autres personnages de cette saga en valent la peine.

J'ai adoré suivre l'évolution de Dorian, de Prince brisé à Roi en devenir, et sa relation douce et tendre et salvatrice avec Sorcha.

Chaol est toujours mon chouchou et Sarah J Maas ne le ménage pas. Il était brisé à la fin du 2ème tome mais il ne reste de lui que de petits bouts éparpillés à la fin du tome 3. Mais c'est l'un de ses personnages à qui vous pouvez tout faire subir, un de ces personnages qui brillent davantage dans la douleur que dans la paix. J'ai hâte de savoir ce qu'il va advenir de lui maintenant que toutes ces croyances et sa loyauté ont été bouleversées.

Les trois nouveaux personnages m'ont aussi conquises très facilement. C'était tellement intéressant de se mettre dans la tête d'un 'méchant' au travers de Manon, et la voir questionner ses racines et son éducation à travers sa relation avec son wivern.

Aedion est mon nouveau chouchou. Les horreurs qu'il a traversé et sa personnalité tranchante m'ont plu dès le début. Son double jeu est impeccable et sa force d'esprit incomparable.

J'ai mis plus de temps à accrocher à Rowan, mais c'est parce que chaque interaction qu'il avait avec Keleana m'agaçait. Plus ils se rapprochaient, plus mon coeur saignait pour Chaol. Plus Rowan s'ouvrait, plus je m'énervais de voir que chaque mâle gravitant autour de Keleana tombent finalement sous son charme et finissent par lui dédier leurs vies et franchement... POURQUOI ??? En vaut-elle vraiment la peine ?

Ce qui m'a à la fois plus et déplu dans ce livre, c'est que chaque personnage va de l'avant, évolue et remporte de nouvelles victoires sur soi-même... Chaque personnage, SAUF KELEANA, qui elle, va en arrière, régresse, se renferme. La toute fin de ce livre rend nécessaire le voyage interne de Keleana, on comprend qu'elle avait besoin de ce retour en arrière pour faire un bond en avant, mais c'était long, agaçant et ennuyeux à lire.

Finalement, Keleana est maintenant Aelin, et je préfère cette version d'elle, mais maintenant qu'elle retourne en Adarlan seule, continuera-t-elle d'évoluer ou retournera-t-elle encore à l'ancienne Keleana que je ne supporte pas ? Et tous ces changements vaudront-ils le coup d'avoir supporter son voyage pendant les 17 heures d'écoute du livre audio ?
