kouya 's review for:
Vespertine
by Margaret Rogerson
All throughout this book I had the faint impression that I'm reading Sorcery of Thorns again, rehashed, in a more mature packaging. There are definitely some recurring themes here, but I must say Rogerson's story telling has become far less predictable than in her earlier books. This novel feels more "whole", not chunky like Enchantment of Ravens did, and the stream of events also seems more logical, not so deus ex (even though there might be a literal goddess at play).
I loved how detailed the main characters were written this time around, and how well Artemisia and the Revenant's exchanges showcased this. Overall I adored this book and hope to read a sequel in the future.
