Jophiel by Patricia Josephine

Jophiel's story continues right where we left off with Zadekiel's story, which is what I love about this short story series. There's nothing left out. No guessing or fill-in-the-blank needed.

With Lake's help, Joe learns to control his ability of sight whenever he touches objects. It was interesting to experience his power and snippets of Lake's past. I also enjoyed Joe's pain-in-the-butt, joker personality and how he always manages to piss off Gabe.

Mariangela is on the run and she's pregnant. On top of that, she's Fallen but she deeply regrets that decision. Every day she asks for forgiveness and every day she feels rejected. The baby's father is Uriel, an archangel who spreads hate for God, and he needs her baby for his "plan" to work.

I personally found the previous two stories to have more weight and substance (emotion, action, suspense). However, I really liked the twist at the end that reveals how Joe and his brother's will have to defeat Lucifer, and how he plans to come to Earth.

I'm all for insta-love stories, but I think back-after-back like this is making it a little old for me. The twist at the end reveals why this is needed, though, and I do like how everyone is linked.

I'm looking forward too getting into Gabe's head. He's a quiet, mysterious character. The thought of someone breaking through his walls, and him showing love to that person, is intriguing. How long do I have to wait for Gabriel's story and the conclusion to this unique series? ;)
