if this book wasn't short i wouldn't have made myself finish reading it. maybe contemporary romance isn't for me, but i started this one expecting a fun, cute and witty romance (and bc it reminded me of the movie "the jane austen book club" with hugh dancy), and all i got was a bland story with angst coming out of nowhere so that there could be a plot. i found some cuteness here and there, but no sexual tension or charismatic personality, which made me care even less about the characters' "problems". i wish at least the book discussions had had more depth to it, but the club's meetings and its members' dynamics, like everything else, felt very shallow to me. there was really no flavor, tho i can respect the author's defense of the romance genre.
