Strong Female Character
by Fern Brady
4.5 star (rounded up)
I started watching Task Master this year and immediately fell in love with Fern Brady. I just saw her and felt the click, so when I heard she had written a book I knew I would be reading it.
As with most celeb memoirs, I listened to the audio, and I think hearing her experiences in her own voice made it even better. I loved that everything felt like a self discovery. I appreciated her showing how she may not have gotten everything right with her autism, or sexuality or body image from the start. Her chapters about being a stripper during college and how it was complimentary to her autistic mind were really interesting. As well as discussing how some workplaces are more accommodating and some still require a lot of masking.
Fern is a work in progress, but aren't we all? I hope in the years to come she continues to unpack and learn even more about herself and being a neurodivergent woman. And if she decides to write another memoir about it, I will be lining up to read it.
