To start, I was shocked to discover that a movie was made from this book.

I annotated this book as I read, and honestly what I thought was going to happen was a hell of a lot more interesting that what actually happened. I stared at the final page so very disappointed in how I had spent the previous hours. I immediately searched for a sequel, thinking it couldn't have possibly ended like that, but it did. It was extremely underwhelming to say the least. There wasn't much driving me to read the book, due to the difficult to read writing style among many other things, other than the need to get it over with.

I wouldn't even go so far as to say this was a psychological thriller. There wasn't much to anticipate. The biggest shock was that this was made into a movie and not the other way around.

If you do decide to read it, I would strongly recommend looking up trigger warnings beforehand.
