Audible review

I am not going to lie - I am fascinated by true crime, by serial killers, and have watched many shows about Jack The Ripper over the years.

One thing we are always told as that his victims were all prostitutes. It was just the easy thing for the police and the media to believe, so they ran with it.

Hallie Rubenhold has given us a wonderful insight into the lives of these women, who have just become a footnote to the Ripper story.

She has investigated their lives and told their stories - mothers, lovers, women who fell victim to alcohol addiction.

After many naive and downright wrong assumptions about the women (Patricia Cornwall, I am side eyeing you) it was refreshing to see someone talk about the women as they should have been talk about for the past 130 years.

Heartbreaking, frustrating, anger-inducing - their stories are a bit of everything. THIS is the story that should be told.
