These novels scratched an inch I was having for romantasy ever since finishing Fourth Wing.   The story suck me in from chapter 1, as soon as the tournament began I was hooked. It is a really fast-paced book, packed with action. It doesn’t let up for a moment. You will be sucked in along with Oraya and sweating all the time. The tournament was highly entertaining and original, the trials felt the right amount of unexpected and high stakes.

Oraya as a main character is just *chef kiss*. She is female rage embodied. Just the right amount of selfishness, drive, determination and cheer ruthlessness to make me love her. The love interest, Raihn, is funny, sexy and has enough etch to keep you rooting for him. Although the romance is not as important as the actual plot in the first book. The second focuses way more on their relationship and character development for both of them.

The second book was a nice follow up (especially for the cliffhanger at the end of book 1 😬) It ties everything up nicely, although it is a bit more slow than book one. What I loved was that we got a much more richer set of characters and that it developed the romance with more depth. I also appreciated the author’s choice to make this a duology within a series. It makes for a much quilter and neat reading experience.

All in all, a highly recommended read to everyone who enjoys a good romance, strong MFC and a well written fantasy. I will 100% continue to read the series.
