The Briar Club
by Kate Quinn
I love Kate Quinn books but this one fell short for me. It had its moments when I got in to the story but then the focus would shift and take way too long getting to the point.
At its core it is a love letter to the 50s in the US. The adding of the recipes and detailed descriptions of life and social conditions at the time.
It starts off with a murder and the ending to that mystery is really interesting. It’s the ride to there that I, try as I may, could not fall in love with.
