This is not a toxic love story, it's about a parasite and its host, with the parasite believing they are inseparable, made together and must die together, whilst the host is currently sick and believes the whispers of the parasite. But in the end only one dies without the other.
This dragged and should have been 200 pages shorter but the main character was so self absorbed, as teenagers are but he was also so full of himself and his love for violence and manipulation was so jarringly paired with his self-depreciating nature, that it was unbearably very human.
The moral of the story is to never coddle white boy rage.
