Rule: The Finale
by L.A. Cotton
3.5 stars.
I wanted to love this book so much, I loved the first 2 parts of this story, but this fell flat to me. It felt rushed and under developed and just sad.
To start, we never see Rafe, Levi, and Eva hash anything out. We never see Levi and Eva have a heart to heart which I so badly wanted. We barely even see Rafe and Levi talk. Everything is just okay, when some pretty major things happened at the end of the second book. I wanted an actual reconciliation and I didn’t get it. It left me wanting.
Also, Rafe and Eva say “I love you” so many times in this book, like SO many. We get it, it doesn’t need to repeated so much.
Thirdly, I’m kind of disappointed everything between them ended up with sex. I wanted to see Rafe be romantic and work to get Eva. I’m also concerned just how dependent he was on her. It felt really unhealthy.
Fourth, I’m not sure how he got to that place. He wasn’t like that in the second book so I wanted to see a better explanation of what was worrying him. But again, it was just left to get better, not really worked on.
As I said, I wanted so badly to love this book, but it fell disappointingly short. Sorry!
