Hercule Poirot's Christmas by Agatha Christie
3.5
dark mysterious reflective tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

A solid and standard Poirot novel featuring all the twists and red herrings one would expect plus a mildly Christmas orientated setting.

"Yet who would have thought the old man to have had so much blood in him?" - Lady Macbeth

- A cosy vaguely Christmas themed mystery that, whilst not in the top tier of Christie's works, is a satisfying and enjoyable entry in the series.

- The characters were fascinating and well written and for a good part of the book I was kept guessing. And even when my mind did stumble upon the right solution, this book continually gaslit me with "But are you certain?", as any good mystery should.

Perfect for Christie fans and those that like a good cosy, armchair mystery. I enjoyed reading this over the Christmas period and would recommend it as a comfortable winter read.
