A trio of young overthrown royals are cursed with the powers of dark magic and a collective heart to do good in their world. Noa is the middle sibling, and hasn’t identified her own powers yet—if she even has any—but by instinct and mischief she gets herself involved in politics and power struggles most people think a thirteen year old girl can’t handle. Noa is out to prove them wrong. We follow her journey, peppered with the desperate behaviour of her brother (the too-young ousted king), and her under-foot little sister (a precocious curious child who has an odd love for insects). Noa meets and converses with monstrous sea creatures and vain otters, and gets in and out of all manner of danger in her attempts to help her brother win back his kingdom.

This is a one-book adventure fit for preteens and tweens that explores the themes of goodness, honesty, compassion, sibling rivalry, reconciliation, and the struggle to use our flaws to bring goodness into the lives of others. And also cake.
