I really enjoyed this book. The world building is interesting, I liked the characters and the writing style appealed to me a lot. As someone who studied the Mycenaeans, I also loved the ways in which the culture and citadel of Mycenae clearly influenced this book. 

The book is fairly light on plot and action, which some readers might not like but I'm perfectly happy with. I have heard that the later books in the series get very political, which is my favourite theme in fantasy, so I can't wait to read them.
