Julián at the Wedding
by Jessica Love
Age: Toddler-Preschool
Identity: Afro latino
LGBTQ: Gender nonconforming main character, lesbian wedding
What another amazing contribution to the world of children's literature and a superb second installment in Julián's life. Julián and his cousin are a part of their aunties' wedding, laying flowers on the path and walking their dog down the aisle. Afterwards, the kids let their imaginations soar as they play together into the wee hours of the night.
My 4-year-old's eyes sparkled as she watched the two playful children sprout fairy wings and play together throughout the night's festivities.
It's hard to believe that Love could have topped her story and artwork but this is such an amazing book. A must buy for the holidays!
