The Road of Bones
by Demi Winters
I started casually reading this on KU (reccomended by @books_and_crafts_jes on insta) along with 5 other books, bouncing between them as my moods saw fit. About a 1/4 of the way through, the story, The CHARACTERS, had hooked me, hard. I needed the physical copy AND audiobook (which is fantastically narrarated by Islay Jacobs). Once I had both, I lived and breathed it. I put the other books on hold and let this tale CONSUME me. I went in fairly blind, the blurb was enough, and reccomend the same. Also vague reviews are my forte...
Read if you like:
Adventure
Merry Band of Misfits
Found Family
Witty Banter
Old Norse-ish Settings
Magic
Romance
My closest comp I can think of, currently, would be One Dark Window due to the, well vibes, but also the easy story flow, loveable (and hateable) characters with their natural and amusing banter/interactions. The romance is more of a slow burn subplot, which was the perfect amount for me.
... carving out time to read Kingdom of Claw sooooon.
