I Have Lost My Way
by Gayle Forman
I Have Lost My Way was exactly what I was looking for in a Gayla Forman novel!
Told through the lives of three young adults, all lost but in different ways, I Have Lost My Way is a book I won’t easily be able to get out my head. I found Freya, Harun, and Nathaniel to be genuine and relatable - I wanted to know more about them. I cared about them. I hope with a title like I Have Lost My Way, that you wouldn’t go into it expecting fluff.
There’s heartbreak and loss and smiles and friendship. We know a lot about one character and almost nothing about another, which is part of the journey. A journey that takes place in one day. This book shows you just how much of an impact one day can have on a person. With that said, this story is still entirely character driven and I am here for that.
I think about a quote I once read, about how strange it is that we find other humans and just decide they’re our people. We marry them, love them, friend them, accept them, trust them. I Have Lost My Way is a beautiful example of this and I am fan!
