Midnighter, Vol. 1: Out
by Steve Orlando, Stephen Mooney, Hugo Petrus, Alec Morgan, ACO
2018 pride reads #1
lgbt+ rep: gay mc, gay side characters
That half star is there purely because of my extreme amount of love for Midnighter as a character, which is a lot of the reason why I enjoyed this comic so much. The story is pretty meh, something I find quite common with comics based around the life of a single superhero so I generally don't dwell too much on it if the characters are good.
As previously mentioned, I love Midnighter, to the point where he's easily in my top 5 superheroes. This comic spends time exploring his character and the balance he holds between bloodthirsty murderer and superhero. The other major character, despite only being in a couple issues, is Dick Grayson, who was just as delightful as usual.
I'm excited to get stuck into volume 2 and hope that one makes it way up to a four star.
