For someone who never read or watched Soul Eater, I went into this creator's work blind, and I...really enjoyed this!

The world is filled with people blowing up from the inside and becoming big fire demon like creatures. Sounds crazy right? Well hold on. To battle that we have a Fire Fighter Force of individuals who tackle these creatures head on. We begin to learn through the story that there's individuals with special powers to help aid them against these fire creatures. With that we have our main hero, Shinra, joining this group of Fire Fighters they begin to take out these creatures one by one.

The start is great. They introduce us to a world we know but with a magical element to it all. It somehow all makes sense. Then comes in Shinra, who's really likeable right off the bat. At first you might not, because of his creepy grin in serious or sad situations, but you soon learn why he has that grin. On top of that the team of fire fighters are all interesting and we get some emotional bits that work really well. The comedy is mostly great...except the oversexualized character who comes in at the end. I get we can have some fan service, and I'd never turn down seeing a cute girl with big boobs flaunt her stuff, but it was so over the top here, and on top of that she keeps pushing people's hands under her bra or around her ass. It's odd...maybe they'll explain it later better.

Either way though, besides that gripe, I really enjoyed a lot of this. The art is good, characters are interesting, and the action rocks. I'll be picking up more for sure.
