Her Cherry by Penelope Bloom
3.0

The beginning of this book was difficult for me. I'm not hating, it was funny and cute... It was also very cliché. I felt like I was re-reading another book and for me that was a turn off. With that said, I believe the rest of the story was unique and entertaining.

This is the 5th book I've read by this author this week. One of the things I liked about the previous stories was that there was not a lot of drawn out self reflection or analytical bullshit. Unfortunately for me this story had a decent chunk of both. Again this isn't bad, however I wanted a light hearted fun read and was not prepared for the characters mainly William to be feeling some kind of way. However at a risk of contradicting myself, once the heavier feelings/thoughts were introduced I was hoping that the conflict with the antagonist was going to be a bit darker and was a bit disappointed that it wasn't. But I also am True Crime obsessed and may have been fantasizing about all the possible scenarios that could have played out.

William is funny and persistent. His 'medical condition" was unexpected and entertaining. Sadly he did remind me of other billionaire goofballs portrayed by other authors. There wasn't really anything that set him apart. But that's not a bad thing, it could just be me being overly analytical.

Hailey was adorable, however the constant reminder that YES she's a virgin was a bit annoying. My family speaks very candidly about sex so I get that her virginity would be discussed however having her sister, brother, cousin's best friend's girlfriend's niece, the grandma, dog, neighbor, zookeeper, and who knows else constantly bring it up was ridiculous. I get that this is fiction but I was waiting for someone to hang a sign.

I don't think I would recommend this book. It's not bad, but it's not unique or memorable. I hope the rest of the series picks up.
