Ok, so this Hellmouth event is a WHOLE mess if you’re reading the trades. In order to truly understand what’s going on, you need to skip between Buffy Vol 3, this volume, and the Buffy/Angel: Hellmouth trade, in the following order:

This volume actually stands alone better than the other two, and for a book titled Angel, does not feature him at all, and instead focuses on Lilith further creating his team, adding Gunn and Spike to the equation, who then have to rescue Fred from Wolfram & Hart.

This is the best part of this event for sure, I like the relationships building between Gunn, Fred, & Spike. But once again we are dealt some truly hideous art, and none of them look like the characters they’re meant to be, particular mentions on that front to Fred and Lilah Morgan who don’t even have the same ballpark features as their respective actresses. As in Fred has blue eyes?? And furthermore they look exactly like each other, except for hair & eye colors. It’s just so hard to read, honestly.
