The King of Crows by Libba Bray
2.0

let it be known; i would die for these characters
pls... everyone... it hurts me to give this a 3 stars as much as it hurts you to see it. but this just wasn't it.

i'd still deem this series one of my all time favourites; nothing can compare to the visceral feeling i felt binging the first 3 books in the summer of 2018. i was at my peak, i feel, because those books gave me so much life and enjoyment.

i think this book did give me joy, too. just not the same kind. also yes, i would die for all of them. excluding jericho

yeah i'm gonna need to bump this down to a 2 stars. i've given myself a week to think on it and i genuinely struggle to find enjoyable aspects from this book.

this book barely gave me joy. it barely scraped the surface. it ruined characters i'd loved so much, thrown in way too many tropes that i cannot get behind, and gave redemption arcs to characters who do not deserve it.

i can't sit here and say i liked this book. it hurts to think, but it makes me have a different outlook on the series as a whole. which just does not sit well with me.

all in all, i wished i loved this book! i do. it's the conclusion to my favourite series and libba bray is one of my favourite authors, yet here we are.
