this book was an experience. at first, I was a little unsure about it, and throughout, I was pretty freaked out by the body horror. however, by the middle of the novel I was completely hooked. on the surface, this is a sci fi horror novel/allegory for environmental destruction. once you get into it, though, it’s a beautifully written character study and exploration of love and identity. I feel like I’m a better writer for having read this.
