dermkat 's review for:
The Ones We Fight For
by Katie Golightly
I already knew, just based on arc reviews and teaser posted by Katie herself on IG, that I was going to love this book and I was right! It is such a wonderful mixture multiple griefs and multiples loves. You can grieve lost family members, the future you thought you'd have, a "working" body, a childhood where you deserved more. You can love friends, blood family, found family, your life, yourself. I appreciated the way Katie addressed infertility as part of the FMC's life but not her entire life, as well as a realistic happy ending without a miracle baby. Speaking of, Katie also has one of the best (if not THE best) author's note at the start of the story where she explains just what I mentioned and other content warnings. Looking forward to whatever she does next!
