although i applaud judy blume for tackling a tough topic i was not impressed with this book

i felt that her mother was horrible to both of her daughters

for 80% of the book i felt that deenie was amazingly self-centered and whiny and yet we are supposed to believe that in the span of 24 hours she developed this great maturity about her condition and that she was the voice of reason in the story?

i also thought how some of the teachers handled her scoliosis was insensitive

the only people i found who were consistent throughout the story were her father and her sister
