I loved the way Lamya wrote this, and incorporated stories from the Quran along with her own experiences. Her introspection about queerness and family was very powerful. Writing about religion and queerness, how it affects family, friends and relationships, is so important - I haven't read anything else that went as deep as this one did. 

I also really liked her writing on gay shame and queer indispensibility. This was so simply and beautifully written, I thought there would be at least a mention of Stone Butch Blues because of the title - there isn't, but the language reflects that style and it's clear this will be a classic✨💫
