A Discovery of Witches is the first title in the All Souls Trilogy. I am hoping to get through all three novels this October (which will not be an easy feat because all of the books are 500+ pages). There is a lot of background information in this piece. Harkness, the author, really sets up the story well and takes her time to create the setting, introduce the characters, and explain the existence of witches, vampires, and daemons. Because of this, the story itself drags, but I am excited to read the next book in the series. I feel like there will be more action in that one since I now have all the background knowledge about the world in which the story takes place.
