I thought long and hard about this review. To be honest, this is probably a 3.5 Star Book.
Adele was cute and funny, Pete was Hot and the supporting cast were solid.

So why the shit rating?
This is an Australian Book. With Australian characters, written, I’m fairly sure, by an Australian. Given those facts I absolutely cannot get behind the use of American spelling in this book.
At no stage ever, has an Australian born or even raised child, called their mother mom. It’s Mum. It’s also a mobile phone, a car park, grey, colour, realise, favourite and probably a heap of other things.
Again I say this is an Australian Book with Australian characters. They should be not be saying those things. For the life of me I don’t understand why the author chose this spelling. If she wanted to use American spelling why not just set it in America? To me, it is the height of disrespect to not use Australian spelling and terms. Why bother extolling the beauties of the Sunshine Coast only to spoil it with mom?
I’d be happily reading, then mom would hit and I would literally recoil. I am so incredibly angry about this. It just doesn’t make sense to me, hence the shit rating.
