This book! An ode to lonely souls everywhere finding places & spaces & people to belong to (including yourself). It’s about being okay with being lonely. & the community you can create within the loneliness of others. How lonely & alone are different.

Honey Girl took me a bit to get into but once I did I was sold! There is refreshing vulnerability in the characters, especially in Grace & Yuki’s story. It’s goofy & messy & beautiful & real. It’s sunshine & clouds & joy & fear. It’s sacredness. It’s shining light on systemic structures in academia (& all aspects of life) that other & tell people they don’t belong when they absolutely do. I love books about self discovery & this one forges it’s own path, reminding readers that it’s okay to take up space however you want. Cheers to champagne pink bubble dreams.

Also shoutout to them driving to Lake Champlain to look for our lovable & infamous lake monster, Champ! (this Vermont resident got a kick out of that)
