Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston
5.0

5/5
I absolutely LOVED this book. I have been recommending it to everyone who so much as catches my eye for the past half month since I read it. Basic plot: Henry (the Prince of Wales) and Alex (the First Son of the US) are forced to make appearances to reprimand the rocky relationship they've had in order to appease the media. I'm sure you can guess what happens next... I'd describe this book, overall, as a slightly smutty, bad-mouthed YA novel. It was very much written for an audience more mature than YA's, but the style of writing is very similar. It made me nostalgic.
*Slight spoilers, but nothing too big*
This book was beyond wholesome. It was the perfect amount of funny, sexy, and well-written. There are plenty of quotables, both hilarious and just wholesome. McQuiston did an excellent job of depicting a diverse set of characters, from Alex the biracial bisexual to Amy, the transgender, lesbian gal. Each and every one of the main/main-side characters were well-developed. They had personalities, even though slightly-selfish Alex doesn't realize this at first.
I will say this about Alex: he's a relatable character. He's a bisexual DISASTER, which I loved. He was funny, sassy, snarky, sarcastic, kinda dumb. His and Henry's relationship is just so cute. I found my whole body just lighting up while reading this because of how, just, cute it all was.
Overall, this book is wholesome. It made me happy, so happy. I would definitely recommend this, especially to romance readers who don't like overly explicit sex scenes.
