Dear Ijeawele, or a Feminist Manifesto in Fifteen Suggestions
by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
This was a short treatise on raising a daughter that breaks the mold that many women are forced into. It comes across as deeply personal while being unapologetically political, a letter challenging and encouraging her friend to not only tell her daughter these things, but also to model them. Adichie's words encourage us all to raise and treat women as nuanced, complex individuals who are deserving of living full, whole lives without the need for anyone's permission.
