“I don’t care how dark the world is for you. I’ll hold out my hand until you find it, and I won’t let go.”
Holy sh*t. I didn’t expect to cry while reading this book about monstrous boys, but the ending brought me to tears. This story really surprised me in the best way! The fact that this is a young adult novel is so impressive. Not to be dramatic, but I NEED to read everything CG Drew writes from now until the end of time.
This story follows Andrew and Thomas, best mates at a boarding school surrounded by a forbidden forest. Andrew writes dark fairy tales, while Thomas draws these frightful stories, breathing life into Andrew’s work. When these monsters start to wreak havoc among the school, Andrew and Thomas must figure out what these monsters want, and more importantly, how to make them stop their path of destruction.
I appreciated seeing the A sexual representation & LOVED the slow burn romance. These characters were so easy to fall in love with. Their tortured souls finding peace in one another was so beautiful.
“I am in ruins for you. I’d give you anything.”
Can we get a round of applause for Lana?! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I absolutely loved her character and standing up to the bully on multiple occasions! Not to mention creating a safe space for Andrew to talk about his sexuality when he was ready to share something he was still coming to terms with. I hope everyone has a Lana in their life!
“I think,” Andrew whispered, “it sucks to be ace.”
“I think,” Lana said, “the world sucks for making you feel that way.”
This story deals with heavier themes which I was expecting b ur the gut punch at the end got me in my feels! I thought this was so well written, even my paced and heir me coming back for more! An all around fantastic book.
I just loved this book SO much & am already yearning for a reread. 🥹🖤
