Monday's Not Coming by Tiffany D. Jackson
3.0

I was excited that there was a Dyslexic character in this book (rep is not a spoiler), but the internal ableism was a lot. We only stay at the point of denial instead of self-acceptance. I know Claudia's feeling about her disability are common and she is probably relatable to someone else, but not me who always had 'F*ck people' attitude if only that translated to me being outgoing.

Claudia and Monday's friendship was relatable, on that codependence as you're growing up. This is a book that focuses on friendship, but not the Friendship is Magic, and more people are complicated and the world is not fair. Maybe I should read more Friendship is Magic books, instead of stabbing my heart repeatedly.

The twist at the end was a choice I don't get. I don't think it added anything to the story.
Amnesia is so often in these books that outshines reality a lot and having Amnesia from mental trauma is a thing (Dissociative Amnesia). I'm no expert but didn't know grief could work that way unless you already had a Dissociative Disorder. Maybe the implication is that there's still trama that Claudia is not remembering. Also, Claudia had to be taken out of school but was not receiving Psychological help yet but her parents paid a tutor? I know there are stigmas around mental health but she been doing this for almost two years.

It also makes the romantic relationship have dubious consent if she going around thinking she 14 and he's 17. I feel like the main reason that relationship was romantic was due it being a way to show Claudia as being fixed at the end.
I found the very end a bit odd in timing.
Yes, you're about to perform, here is the diary of your friend which probably horrific details. Maybe it had been censored, but it felt like a scene was deleted to smooth the ending out rather when you would give someone something like that.
