I have a weird relationship with anthologies. I always want to like them, but every time I read one there will be a few stories I hate so much that it sours the experience of reading the whole thing for me.

BUT! NOT THIS TIME! Maybe my curse is broken?? I'm not sure, but I really enjoyed this one! It was strange and I didn't always know what was going on, but I really liked it! And I liked all the stories!

I picked this book up purely because of the cover. I was browsing at the library, and the bright colors stuck out. Plus, the title was odd and funny enough to catch my eye. I actually sat down at the library to start reading it and I was hooked right away. The third story, Self Care, is hilarious and I loved the voice of the narrator. I could practically hear them talking in my head.

As Tender Feet of Cretan Girls Danced Once Around an Altar of Love was another favorite. I am always up for a retelling or twist of a myth.

My favorite one, though, is the titular story, Everyone on the Moon is Essential Personnel. It's also the longest story. I think for me part of my issue with anthologies is that I feel like I never get enough time with the characters. This story is almost novella-length, though, so the characters are fleshed out and well developed, as is their world

I definitely recommend this to SFF fans, and anyone who wants to find new short fiction writers!
