The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

I'm not sure what I can say that hasn't already been said and probably said better!
I listened to this as an audiobook. It was long but so good and well read.
I often listened closing my eyes so I could take it all in without distractions.
Starr sees her friend Kahlil senselessly killed in front of her. She knows what she saw and her story never changes, she just takes awhile to get that info into the right hands. When she does, she become more vocal and her community rallies around her.
In a way, I'm so glad I waited to read it until this point in time. Seeing Black Lives Matter movements becoming more publicized and hearing stories similar to this from those in the Black community, made me appreciate it more. I like to learn about others and what they go through in their lives.
