Brightly Woven
by Alexandra Bracken
Sydelle Mirabil lives in a village plagued by drought but all the changes when Wayland North, rogue wizard, shows up and it begins to rain for the first time in ten years.
Even though a huge chunk of the book takes place over a journey across the fictional country of Palmarta we really only go three places between the beginning of the journey and the end. Which is ok, the counrtyside is admittedly less interesting than the relationship between Syd and North. It's quite a nice love story. The use of magic was well executed in my opinion, not overly explained like some stories *cough*Eregon*cough*
I was a bit annoyed a the 'love triangle' it felt tacked on and out of place. Thankfully it wasn't a big part of the story (which made me wonder why it was even included) but still over all I liked it quite a bit. Also the author is from AZ (represent!)
