This almost dethroned Hook, Line, and Sinker as my favorite Tessa Bailey book, but it’s a solid close second favorite!! I LOVED the characters. I like Tessa’s books, she’s an auto-buy author for me, but my favorite’s are the ones rooted further into reality? Both Beat and Melody had realistic jobs. Book restorer and running a charity. Their characters felt real. You could feel Melody’s body relaxing into Beat’s with that first hug. Because it was all so real, I felt so much more immersed into the book. Was it far fetched? Yah, absolutely, it wouldn’t be a TB book otherwise. So many sweet scenes between them. I’m usually irritated with third act break ups and dread the moment we hit the 65% mark because you know it’s coming. But not with Wreck the Halls. I felt like the “Space” Melody requested was healthy, not at all a third act break up pining trope. Figuring things out.
The Banter. Oh my. I could read an entire book of Melody one liners but her and Beat’s banter was epic. Dare I say, better than Fox and Hannah. So, so good. I laughed so much I woke my husband up.
My only drawback was the lack of epilogue. Tessa wrapped Beat and Melody up nicely, but I was hoping for something more. She does Epilogues so well that I was surprised there was none. It was a jarring end. I kept clicking next page and nothing was happening. So that was a bummer, but barely takes anything away from just how good this book was.
