Song in the Silence
by Elizabeth Kerner
So, this book is.... different. I wasn't a big fan of the writing, but it had a little bit of a Mary Sue for the main character. I saw the ending coming from a mile away, otherwise we would have been stuck with a book about bestiality. Which is another uncomfortable topic in this book as infallible and super-lucky Lanen of COURSE encounters dragons like she wanted and of COURSE she bonds with the king of the dragons and they fall in love and then angst about the fact that they aren't the same species. Awkward. I like my dragons, but not really in that way. Meanwhile, super great evil wrings its hands in the background with devious plans that are easily unraveled.
