Ghostly Echoes by William Ritter
5.0

AHHHHHH! I'm so furious at myself for not picking up the final book yet! Pay day seems so far away now!

I love all of these characters! The dialogue and sarcasm are things that I would literally say. I found that the groups hierarchical structure faded away a lot in this one and put them all on equal ground--they all had something to contribute and surprised each other.

I definitely thought Mrs. Hoole was the villain so the ending really took me by surprise. Ritter incorporated a lot of comments on society at this time period like having a child out of wedlock. Some issues re one's we still deal with right now such as the drag queen. something she said really stook with me and it definitely transcends their time period:

"You're a sweet girl but open those pretty eyes. For me, they are all the wrong streets. I don't want to be careful Miss Abigail, I want to be Lydia Lee."

It pretty much broke my heart.

Abigail has grown up so much from the first book! She's strong and vocal and independent and loyal and honest. Her going to the underworld was so freaking cool! Her relationship with Jenny was also #relationshipgoals.

Jackaby is still such a mystery to me but I get the feeling everything will pour out in the 4th book and we started to see that more and more as this book went on.

hella excited for the sequel!
