May 2025: Read after I finished All The Young Dudes fanfic, which was great.
Book 1 is charming, adventurous, lots of fun. However there are many issues that I noticed as I read the book now that I’m a parent. The story logic is just.. not there, consequences don’t make much sense, and there’s a lot of social issues that are just glossed over without any explanation and go unchecked (fat phobia, classism, bullying, etc).
3.5 stars.
