Tempted by the Runes by Christina Courtenay
5.0

When you start a Christina Courtenay’s story you know you are going to read a well-researched, entertaining, and compelling story.
This is the third I read in this series and always had a lot of fun, rooted for the characters and learned something new.
The attention to the details and historical accuracy is excellent, it’s like travelling back in time with the characters and living in a different age with them.
Maddie and Geir are a lovely couple, brought together by fate (the Norns) or luck, but I’m starting to think that there’s a sort of metaphysical plan that matches people through ages.
Maddie is not perfect: sometimes she’s a bit too rigid and sometimes she choose without asking what other think. But she’s also strong willed and sweet, a well rounded characters that slowly grew on me.
Geir is a perfect hero: brave, selfless and ready to fight to get the woman he love.
Their story is fascinating and loved it as much as I loved the setting and descriptions of everyday life.
I’m wondering what will be next but I’m sure it will be as entertaining as the other stories.
Highly recommended.
