House Lessons: Renovating a Life
by Erica Bauermeister
When an author writes a memoir about a topic you find fascinating, you must force yourself to slow your reading so you can enjoy the journey just a bit longer. Weaving together her family’s story of renovating a house with historical and architectural anecdotes was delightful and satisfying. I have no desire to tackle the size of a project she and her family did, but I certainly enjoyed being a voyeur through her essays.
