Love Next Door
by Helena Hunting
Once again I’ve really enjoyed a book by Helena Hunting. I love her sports romances, and love her humor. But her more contemporary romance, without all the outrageously funny bits, is just as good. The characters are ones that you can’t help but fall in love with. So much depth and their own background issues brought to the stories. With what happened to Van at the beginning, being blamed for what has happened to his family’s charity, I kept guessing throughout the whole book as to who it could be that actually was behind all the trouble.
The clues kind of pointed to one person, but every once in a while there was a clue leading to someone else. Or someone else would do something to make you think maybe, just maybe. All the side characters were great as well, as to be expected in this author’s books. I loved Dillion’s family, even though they definitely had their own issues. Van’s sister Teagan was great, and one of the other members of his family redeemed themselves in a way for me as well towards the end. I also loved how Aunt Bee left money for her family, as well as all the little things she left to be found around her cabin.
I’m very glad to see that this is going to be a series. I would love to see a book for Aaron, hopefully matched with Teagan? And then maybe a book for Dillion’s brother? I know he has some things to work on, but I think he deserves a good love story as well. Not to mention Dillion’s friends need someone as well!
