I have to admit I was a little underwhelmed by this instalment after loving the series so much so far. It may well be my fault for not re-reading ๐…๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ญ๐ก ๐–๐ข๐ง๐  & ๐ˆ๐ซ๐จ๐ง ๐…๐ฅ๐š๐ฆ๐ž, as a year *has* passed, but I found the plot hard to follow at points & struggled to remember who certain characters were. Donโ€™t get me wrong, I was so happy to be back with Violet, Xaden & the dragons (particularly my sassy babe Andarna). I still loved Violetโ€™s chronic illness rep, & Xadenโ€™s awareness of & support with her issues warmed my heart. I love the relationship between Violetโ€™s squadmates, & Ridoc, Aaric & Cat are firm favourites. I was fascinated by the new settings & the information revealed about Violetโ€™s family history, but overall I was left more than a little confused, which lessened the emotional impact of the book compared to the previous two.
