The Grim Reaper's Lawyer
by Mea Monique
MA'AM??? What did you put in this? This was so good! The title was intriguing, and then I read what exactly the concept was and I just thought it was so cool and I was not wrong. I can't believe this is a debut novel because it reads like it's not, and I mean that in the best way. It's really funny with laugh out loud moments and great banter, and I was smiling the entire time. One thing I loved was the representiation: we have a Black FMC, an Asian MMC (it is never explicitly stated but his last name is Kim and the description fits), LGBTQ+ characters and more. I loved how all of the characters are written, both the main characters and all of the side characters. Joyce Parker was so hilarious and I really felt for her through her journey in this book, and I love that she and Aiden had things in common despite being very different people. And can we talk about Aiden Kim?! He is the epitome of perfection and he had the HOTTEST mouth. I loved all of the spicy scenes, and I felt like Aiden and Joyce had so much chemistry. The plot was moving and I loved all of the twists and turns in this book! There's mystery and suspense, crime and punishment and secrets that come to light. It was so perfect and this is seriously one of the best books I have read in awhile. THAT CLIFFHANGER TOO! I need book two ASAP!
