Absolute Swamp Thing by Alan Moore, Vol. 1 by Alfredo Alcalá, John Costanza, Alan Moore, Stephen R. Bissette, Rick Veitch, John Totleben, Tatjana Woods, Shawn McManus, Dan Day, Ron Randall
5.0

This to me is Alan Moore's best work, which is saying a lot.

Through this entire volume we get to catch up on who Swamp Thing is. Which is crazy cause it does continue the last run but it does it in a way to catch you up with the key players so quick and flawlessly really. But the real highlight is the evolution of Swamp Thing and what he becomes here.

The truth behind Swamp thing and what he really is changes the entire character in a positive way that also enhances every run after this one. Moore decides to take a big swing on the reason and origin basically of Swampy and it pays off. On top of that some excellent storytelling overall dealing with identity, leaving behind the past, family ties, and even sex. I would go as far to say this book was ahead of its time and still reads today so well, as if it never aged.

A 5 out of 5.
