Bloom Into You, Vol. 1 by Nakatani Nio
3.0

“The love they talk about in books and songs is always sparkling... I'd always longed for it myself. I wanted to feel like I'd sprouted wings, like i was floating in the air... I had high hopes. And yet... my feet were still planted firmly on the ground.”

This was super cute! I'm not a big manga reader in general, though I'm hoping to change that, but this might be my favourite one I've read thus far. This follows Yuu, a freshman who has decided to help out the student council instead of joining a club. There she meets Nanami, a popular well-liked junior who immediately takes a shine to Yuu. Cue messy romantic feelings.

This is a solid first volume, laying the groundwork for the main relationship and the social dynamics between characters. I really hope the future volumes develop the main romance more because while I liked what was being set up in this, it's pretty underdeveloped at this point. There's also some dubious consent in terms of kissing in this, so I would steer clear if you don't want to read that.

So long as my library has future volumes, I'll definitely be continuing this manga series, and would recommend for those who like manga and those who are newbies like me.
